Domestic or Business Dispute? You Decide

I am somewhat dumbfounded. Both by the action of big boss man and my reaction, or lack thereof.

I was scolded, actually I was yelled at. In front of a few fellow employees. They look even more shocked then I am, after all I'm the one who can say what she wishes and it's brushed of with a grin.

We are in the process of remodeling an adjacent building to house our instrument and controls department. It is a frigging huge building. Big boss man's not-so-legal south of the boarder man servant is heading it up. He pulled all of the existing electrical work and is replacing it (Side note, Husbinator is in the electrical field....So I feel confident in saying that not-so-legal has no idea what is going on and I see a fire in the future). We have a roll-off dumpster and not-so-legal has been letting this random guy come and take the scrap (which is going to be thrown away anyway), Well today not-so-legal is out of town and random guy comes in and asks for him. I tell him he's not here and he asks if it would be okay to take the scrap from the dumpster. AND here's my mistake, instead of saying he needed to wait for not-so-legal (or at least until tonight when he will most likely return anyway) I gave him the go ahead. Well big boss man came in yelling at me because there was someone pulling scrap out of the roll-off and surely not-so-legal would never let that happen. 

It was over something inane, I should have gave it more thought before I let random guy at it. But that is beside my point. The manner in which I was scolded/yelled at was atrocious. I am literally embarrassed that anyone witnessed it, plus what was an excellent relationship with big boss man just went way south. 

The bright side is I was so astounded by his reaction that my mouth seized up and didn't say anything snarky or disrespectful or in general 'fuck you'.

Big boss man is now in his office laughing away with the newbies (we have several), I however am at my desk concerned over our work relationship. Does this sound vaguely domestic to anyone else?
